Renewing of the Mind Bible Verses

IMG_1000Do you ever feel like you want to have a daily quiet time or renewing-of-the-mind time, but you just can’t make yourself do it? If so, try praying through some of these Bible verses.

Here’s an example of a Scripture prayer you could pray for Jeremiah 31:3-4:

Scripture Prayer Example

The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness. Again I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! Again you will take up your tambourines, and go forth to the dances of the merrymakers.

Lord, I close my eyes and I see you walking toward me. You’re looking at me with eyes of love, wanting to spend time with me, and I’m looking at you with eyes of dread. Please forgive me, Lord.

Help me to love you with all my heart, all my soul, and all my mind.  You know where I’m weak, Lord. Build me up, and I will be rebuilt.

You say that you love me with an everlasting love, and that you’ll draw me toward you with lovingkindness. Lord, please draw me toward you now and give me the desire to read Your Word.

Then I will shake my tambourines and praise your Holy name.

Psalm 91:2-4 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God in who I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.

Psalm 147:2-3 The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Isaiah 62:4a, 5b It will no longer be said to you, “Forsaken,” Nor to your land will it any longer be said, “Desolate”; But you will be called, “My delight is in her,” And your land, “Married”; for the Lord delights in you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so your God will rejoice over you.

Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 31:3-4 The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 1. Great study here, Barb. I’m struck by John 15:4. Such a sweet message in that passage.

  2. Dan Black on Leadership says:

Great passages. I recently read The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson and it talks about praying scriptures into our life. These are some great ones to be praying over myself and others.

  3. tcavey says:

Phil 3:8, oh to grow that close to God that all else seems to be rubbish! My heart desires to draw close to him like that, but that means I must renew my mind, and allow Him to transform me. I must take my thoughts captive! This is an active process!

When I first began reading this post I was reminded of my women’s Bible commentary talking about how God woos us. He loves us so much! It blows me away to see how He courts us and longs for a relationship! It’s beautiful.

    • Barb says:

I agree. As I read through the Old Testament, I see God always longing for Israel to give up their idols and come back to Him. Then the New Testament and Jesus being willing to suffer everything He suffered for us. To me, the Bible screams of His love for us.
